Cardeilhac - Table Housewife and Her Sterling Silver Knives - Six Guests - 42 Pieces

Of remarkable quality and with great refinement of carving, this reminder of the Cardeilhac's favorite style, the Regency, is rich in a superb engraving design on a background executed in amati. This engraving gives this set a luxurious beauty and rich in details; the pommel handles of the knives and forks are re-engraved on all four sides with their arabesques in volutes, rosettes and lily buds.
In light hemmed relief, a stylized escutcheon is applied to the back of the spoons, the forks, covered on the stem with fine rings, are each stamped Cardeilhac in full between the guarantee mark and that of the goldsmith .

It should be noted: unlike the knives filled with their silk, the handles of the forks are unclampable, made of solid solid silver. High-end work for this exceptional goldsmith, having sometimes offered this rare density and proposal in his creations (see the Louis XIII trilobé model, same technique).
The blades of the dinner knives are made of steel with the Cardeilhac logo, while those of the dessert knives are made of stainless steel, allowing contact with acidic foods without them turning black (lemon, vinegar, etc.).

Each of the 42 pieces is stamped with the French Minerve 1st Title guarantee mark (950/1000), knife handles included.
Hallmarks and/or goldsmith's stamp except on small hors d'oeuvre knives. Micro-scratches from use, excellent condition.
