    Silver-plated serving spoon or scoop by Christofle in Paris.

    The handle is decorated with a pattern of crossed ribbons, embellished with acanthus leaves and small flowers on the bowl.
    The bowl, gilt on the inside, has a central slot, characteristic of serving spoons intended for fruit in syrup.

    Founded in 1830, Christofle quickly established itself as one of the leading Parisian silversmiths. A supplier to King Louis-Philippe, it received a commission in 1846 for a large dinner service for the Château d'Eu.

    During the Second Empire, Christofle gained international renown following a commission from Napoleon III for a monumental ceremonial dinner service, presented at the 1855 Universal Exhibition. Goldsmith to the King and Supplier to the Emperor, the firm worked for the major European courts and, at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, developed a refined tableware production, combining technical mastery, elegant forms, and decorative innovation.
