What amazes me, I must say, is the total mastery. The perfectly balanced graphic organization and a harmony of hues as exquisite as they are delicate.

I mean it in this sense. This kilim reminds me of Haute Couture! However, it's impossible to imagine the weaver's path through a related university program, nor is she assisted by a whole team of helpers. It is the power of transmission that guides her work with every thread of the weft.

The main motif, the star-shaped lozenge, consists of:

a cruciform or hourglass-shaped core, surrounded by serrated edges, forming an eight-pointed geometric star.

This type of figure belongs to the family of Anatolian motifs often interpreted as:

a stylization of the tribal göl, an abstract representation of protection, or a geometric development of the protective lozenge.

Woven wool on wool.

Vegetable dyes, tones of indigo blue, red ochre, pastel pink, brown, black, and ecru.
It goes without saying that the piece has strong decorative potential; it resonates and beats to the rhythm of the highest tradition of ancient Anatolian kilims.
