A moving and superb fragment of a çuval from the Obruk region, near Konya, in Central Anatolia.
Traditionally used by nomadic populations for storing and transporting grain, çuvals bear witness to a way of life that is as utilitarian as it is aesthetic.
This fragment, made of sheep's wool on goat's wool, blends weaving and embroidery with great sensitivity.
Its remarkably fresh palette of plant-based dyes captures the vibrancy of the natural colors despite the weight of time.
A piece that is both authentic and decorative, steeped in history and textile poetry. Circa 1880
