Exceptional pair of large silk lampas curtains, attributed to Pierre Frey
    Provenance: Villa Les Cèdres, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Period: Second half of the 20th century
A sumptuous and monumental pair of silk and cotton lampas curtains, richly decorated with foliage scrolls, floral interlacing, and delicately woven arabesques in a palette of gold, beige, and ivory tones. The classically elegant design is inspired by the great 18th-century Lyon fabrics, in the spirit of the refined creations of Maison Pierre Frey, to which this pair is attributed.
The fabric, remarkably dense and supple, reveals a subtle interplay of reflections between the satin background and the raised patterns, giving the ensemble a shimmering luminosity. The quality of the workmanship, the majestic drape, and the meticulous finish are testament to custom workshop work, commissioned for a prestigious interior.
This pair of very large curtains boasts spectacular proportions:
a height of 3 meters and a total width of 6 meters, or 3 meters per panel (approximately 1.35 meters at the rod). Their fullness and generous drape highlight the richness of the fabric and the nobility of their provenance. The sewn pleats, the full lining, and the reinforced top braid confirm the high-quality workmanship, in the pure tradition of the great Parisian interior design houses.
Coming directly from the legendary Villa Les Cèdres in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, a legendary property that belonged to King Leopold II of Belgium and later to various private collectors, and considered one of the most sumptuous residences in the world, these curtains embody the splendor and art of living of the great French decorative tradition. Dimensions:
    Height: 300 cm
Total width: 600 cm (3 m per panel)
Width at rod end: approximately 135 cm per panel
Condition: Good overall condition, clean and sound fabric, slight signs of wear consistent with a historical provenance.
We had the privilege of acquiring all the curtains from Villa Les Cèdres, approximately sixty pairs of various designs, all custom-made and of exceptional quality.
Other designs are available upon request, with the option of sending additional photographs and technical details.
A prestigious piece of illustrious provenance and masterful craftsmanship, a rare testament to the expertise of a major French designer and the refinement of 20th-century French Riviera interior design.
