    Boater hat in braided straw and black grosgrain ribbon with bow with interior in moiré fabric, cotton mesh and leather, from the house of A. Boucicaut (Au Bon Marché).
    In very good condition.
    Has its box with handwritten inscription "H de F", note restorations, some stains and deformations.

    Aristide Boucicaut (1810-1877) was a French entrepreneur and businessman.
    Founder in 1852 in Paris of the first department store, Au Bon Marché, he was the pioneer of modern commerce and his example was quickly copied in France and abroad. Son Anthony-Aristide joins the management of the department store, the name of the company becomes “MM. A. Boucicaut et fils.” After the successive deaths of his husband and his son, his widow Marguerite Guérin, with whom he married in 1838, continued to develop his work for ten years.
