Early 19th-century clock – Movement signed “Le Faucheur” (1808–1830)
A table clock in gilded bronze and white marble, featuring an elegant and refined neoclassical design typical of the early 19th century.
The case, richly decorated with finely chiseled foliage garlands and trophies, rests on a white marble base accented by a gilt-bronze frieze.
The white enamel dial, featuring Arabic and Roman numerals, displays a beautiful pair of finely crafted openwork hands.
The gilding, which retains its original luster, highlights the quality of the engraving and the refinement of the details.
Signed “Le Faucheur” in Paris, the superbly crafted movement has an eight-day power reserve, an anchor escapement, and strikes the hours and half-hours.
Very good overall condition: gilding well preserved, dial intact, movement complete.
The name “Le Faucheur” refers to a renowned Parisian watchmaking house, located on Rue de la Joaillerie (see TARDY) and active in the first half of the 19th century (circa 1808–1830). This period marks a transition from the Empire style to the early Romantic decorative style, combining technical refinement with ornamental elegance.
