Spectacular pendulum in patinated silvered bronze and gilded with fine gold, Empire style from the Restoration period circa 1830-1840.

In terminal shape, simulating the architecture of a fountain with a pediment at the top of which river gods are lying, a large dial in silvered and gilded bronze, below the fountain itself with the water flowing from it. a vase on which sits a young boy holding a reed branch. Our pendulum is a complicated automaton which controls 3 water jets simultaneously, that of the upper basin and at the same time the 2 which flow into the lower basin. The entire stylistic repertoire is centered on the symbolism of water with dolphins, shells, reeds, etc.

This rare clock is also an automaton, equipped with a second independent mechanism which simulates flowing water: three twisted crystal cylinders emerging from the mouths of the fountain and rotating on themselves to "fill" the two silvered bronze basins simulating water (see video on request).

Rare model due to its originality and very beautiful workmanship. Ideal to complete an Empire or early 19th century decoration.
Beautiful mercury gilding in matte and shiny, well preserved, wear to the silvering. some small gaps in gilded bronze (probably an oar in the hands of the river goddess on the right). Movement revised by a professional watchmaker.

It is in good condition. Both mechanisms have been serviced by our watchmaker. The clock and the automaton work perfectly. However, for the fountain clock it is a very delicate mechanism, which cannot withstand the vibrations of transport. The fountain is functional but will require the services of a home watchmaker to reset it and get it started. This is a collector's item intended for an informed collector public, it is not an electric mechanism that "starts with a switch".
