An important Griotte red marble clock with a rich trim of finely chased bronzes gilded with mercury, of Thomire quality. Restoration Empire style circa 1815-20.
A large chased ormolu dial encircled by palmettes is placed in the center. At the top is a gilded bronze antique vase.
Very fine matte and bright mercury gilding, original wire movement that appears functional. (Possibly a small revision to be entrusted to a watchmaker for start-up adjustments).
A monumental model in terms of size (45cm), beautifully crafted and in excellent condition. A fine addition to any Empire or early 19th-century setting.
