    A rare clock in gilded bronze with boxwood marquetry on amaranth wood.
    The movement features a silk-wound mechanism and strikes the hours and half-hours.
    The dial, supported by two gilded bronze sphinxes, is made of guilloché zinc and signed by: BERLAND in VENDÔME (1838–1850)—Dictionary of French Clockmakers, TARDY;
    It also features a small subdial indicating the seconds.
    It sits on an elegantly inlaid wooden base featuring a thermometer;
    an engraved plaque indicates, among other things, that the temperature in Paris was -10° in 1740 and +30° in 1755!
