Charming little Lobi figurine (10cm). This miniature figure may belong to the group of statuettes, generally small in size, used by diviners. Over time, these are often covered with a characteristic smooth and glossy patina from frequent handling.
As suggested by the holes on the left side of the miniature, this could also be a small protective or possessive charm (trace of an old repair).
These statuettes are very small figurines (generally 5 to 25 cm) for personal use, which can be carried or kept in a hidden place. They can be attached to the basket of newborns, to the neck or arm of children, or to a hunter's bow, quiver, or hunting horn.
The superb glossy brown patina attests to its use and age. This piece is mounted on a lovely little ebony block. Total height with the base: 12cm
