China, early 20th century or earlier, very attractive bronze statue of Ananda, a monk of high intellectual and spiritual standing. He was born on the day of Buddha's awakening, becoming one of his ten disciples and assisting him for nearly twenty-five years.
Ananda is depicted standing on a lotiform plinth in his richly embroidered monk's robe (kesa), hands clasped in a gesture of deep contemplation. His face, with half-closed eyes, is imbued with great serenity.
Height 28 cm. The scale indicator on the last photograph is a small lighter of a well-known brand.
Good condition except for normal oxidation due to the material. Nothing abnormal and no impact on aesthetics.
