Tibet, late 19th century - early 20th century, very attractive Gau (Tibetan amulet called) in silver-plated and gilded metal, circular in shape, revealing a glazed earthenware medallion featuring a seated lama in the lotus position. The Gau lid is decorated with six auspicious Buddhist symbols surrounded by garlands and stylized interlacing in relief. This Gau contains the medallion visible in the openwork section, a piece of cloth and sutras in black and red ink on paper. Four small loops arranged in pairs around the perimeter were used to hang it.
The whole is in good condition, apart from the slight wear that is normal and unimportant given its age and use.
