An elegant oval Limoges porcelain biscuit box, finely sculpted, dating from the late 19th/early 20th century, signed Coquet Limoges.

This elegant Limoges porcelain biscuit box is distinguished by the delicacy of its modeling and its neoclassical-inspired aesthetic. Made of white porcelain biscuit, it has a matte, velvety appearance characteristic of this type of unglazed porcelain, highlighting the richness of the sculpted reliefs. The lid is adorned with a finely sculpted bas-relief depicting a mythological or allegorical scene: several winged childlike figures (putti or cherubs) move within a cloudy, vegetal setting. The composition is fluid, with a remarkable sense of movement and anatomical detail, typical of classically styled productions.

The sides are decorated with symmetrical foliate scrolls incorporating female mascarons, inspired by classical aesthetics. The piece is enhanced by a gilt metal mount, highlighting the joint of the lid, with a decorative ring clasp at the front, adding a precious and elegant touch. The porcelain, left matte according to the biscuit tradition, showcases the delicacy and depth of the reliefs.

A refined decorative object, ideal as a jewelry box, keepsake box, or display piece, illustrating the craftsmanship and neoclassical taste of Limoges porcelain.

Very good overall condition, without cracks or chips. Minor wear consistent with age.

    Dimensions: 17 (L) x 7 (W) x 7.2 (H) cm

    COQUET – Limoges, France
This piece is from the Coquet factory, one of the oldest porcelain houses in Limoges, founded in 1824, renowned for the exceptional quality of its clay, its high-end sculpted biscuit porcelain, and a production often intended for a bourgeois clientele or for export.

    Dating

The crowned C and the typography used correspond to a late 19th/very early 20th-century production, most likely around 1880–1910.

The number 16 is a model or mold number, consistent with a limited but high-quality series production.
