This large red leather morocco case is gilded with a frieze of leaves, fillets, and wolf teeth around the edge. It bears the owner's name on the front: Monsieur Marchal. The silver clasp is chiseled under a marquis's crown with a wedding coat of arms. Each corner of the document holder is adorned with a gilded flower, and the back of the flap is embellished with a superb half-sequin of flowers and a frieze of arabesques. The interior is lined with gusseted cardboard boxes covered in moiré green satin; unfortunately, the gussets have been cut over time.
