This is a very striking piece of wall art by the renowned Picard family during their time in Vallauris. They made many plaques in this enamelled lava stone style, this being one of the smaller ones. It measures 20 cms x 60 cms x 1 cm and is very heavy. To the rear, it has been equipped with a sturdy attachment for wall-hanging, although I recommend testing it, and the attached nylon rope, for yourself before hanging the piece.
The art work has a real 60s vibe with wonderful, vibrant colours. Lava stone is a natural material and each piece will have a unique surface with pitting and rough areas. This work has some wear in the form of scratches to the enamel, fleabites to the edges and the upper and lower left-hand corners (as displayed) have larger chips : this has been taken into account in the asking price. To the lower left corner, it has been signed JGP which is often said to be for Max and Dominque Picard, although I feel Jeanette and George Picard seems more appropriate. I can only apologise for my uncertainty but there is so little information available.
Owing to the weight, I have only priced shipping costs for purchasers in the UK, EU and Switzerland. If you live outide this region and want to purchase this, please request a quote for your location.
