This is the third and largest in a group of decorative wall plaques that I am selling which were created by the Picard family during their time in Vallauris. They made many plaques in this enamelled lava stone style, this one measures 75 cms x 45 cms x 1.5 cms and unsurprisingly, is very heavy. On the back of the plaque, there are 2 seemingly sturdy attachments for wall-hanging, although again, I recommend testing them for yourself before use.
This piece of art has a more complex pattern than the other 2 I am offering and is decorated in muted, autumnal colours. Lava stone is a natural material and each piece will have a unique surface with pitting and rough areas. This work has some wear in the form of scratches to the enamel, a small area where the enamel has either chipped or pulled away from the surface (see photo 3). There are fleabites to the edges and the lower corners (as displayed) have larger chips, and there are also a few splashes or shadows of white paint, pretty small, probably caused by it not having been covered adequately whilst decorating was taking place.
To the lower left corner, there are the initials JGP : although one reads that this is Max and Dominque Picard, I feel Jeanette and George Picard seems more appropriate. I can only apologise for my uncertainty but there is so little information available.
As this piece has more issues than the other two I am selling, I am happy to offer this with free postage within the EU, UK and Switzerland. If you live outside these destinations, I will offer discounted shipping, please ask for a quote.
