Although unsigned, this elegant vase is most likely a product of the belgian glass-makers Val Saint Lambert from about 1920. It is the copper metallisation on blue glass that gives this vase its very beautiful vermiculated decoration of stylised flowers and geometric patterns. The metallic decoration was effected by a technique of electroplating which was used by Léon Ledru, artistic director at Val Saint Lambert from 1896 until his death in 1926.
The vase is in reasonable condition. Externally, there are traces of oxidation, of household polish and there are small gaps and lines that are probably a result of the manufacture, but please note that inside, there is a slight crack on the mouth of the vase. If you look at the photos you will see examples of what I’m talking about, but if you still have questions, please contact me and I will try to help.
The vase is approximately 29.5 cms high and weighs ca. 965 g.
