-Suite of 3 wallpaper strips belonging to the panoramic "Les Incas" by Louis-Joseph Dufour.

    -Circa 1820.

The complete set of this panoramic entitled "Les Incas" includes 25 color-printed strips. The original model was created by Manufacture DUFOUR in Paris around 1818 and presented the following year at the "Exposition des produits de l'industrie française".
The motifs were printed in full color on a woodblock, with the exception of the backgrounds, which were hand-brushed to achieve the subtle gradation of the skies.

-The panels on offer (sheets 20 to 23) are entitled "The landing of Pizarro and his companions".

-Printed on 2112 wooden boards, including 939 for the figures, and in 33 colors, including 42 for the figures, for the entire décor.

-Francisco Pizzare ( 1475-1541) Spanish conquistador succeeded in conquering the Inca empire in 1532.

-About this panoramic "The Incas" in museum collections:

-The almost complete panorama is in the MAD collections (inv. 29271), where our three strips are also kept.

-Some strips are also held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

-Condition: The three strips are marouflaged on canvas, and nail marks on the edges suggest that they were set in woodwork.

-There are gaps in the polychromy, mainly in the group of figures. The whole remains in a good state of preservation, with fresh colors.

    -Dimensions: Height: 210 cm
    Width: 179 cm
