A small, finely carved bone inkwell, richly decorated with a stag on the top, a doe lying in a grove, a hunting dog chasing a fox, and a rabbit on the side. It bears an old shop label, "Verdussen-Hermans - Montagne de la Cour 15 - Brussels," dating from the 19th century.

This inkwell is in good condition, of superb quality. It has its small parts (see photos).

Note: a small chip and missing piece on one side, soiling and wear consistent with age (see photos).

    * This street, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, was one of the main thoroughfares connecting the upper and lower parts of the city. Only a small section of the Rue Montagne de la Cour remains today, just below the Place Royale. The rest has disappeared to make way for the Mont des Arts. This project, implemented in two phases (turn of the 19th-20th century, 1950s-60s), led to the demolition of a large, old, commercial, and popular area, with the aim of replacing it with a new, monumental cultural center.
