A beautiful antique miniature from the late 19th century, depicting a young girl holding a dove, after the work by Jean-Baptiste Greuze entitled *L’Enfant à la colombe* (The Child with a Dove) or *Jeune fille à la colombe* (Young Girl with a Dove). The original painting is held at the Chartreuse Museum in Douai; it is an oil on wood panel measuring 64.4 × 53.3 cm.
The scene employs an iconography much appreciated in the 19th century: a young girl, shown in three-quarter profile, holding a white dove whose beak touches her lips. A similar miniature in the Cognacq-Jay Museum is described as being interpretable as either a genre scene or an allegory of Sincerity.
The work is presented in a rectangular dark wood frame with an oval border and gilt rim. The rendering is delicate, in the 18th-century style, with a beautiful softness in the facial features and the blue tones of the garment.
