Art Nouveau-style ceramic planter, signed by the Faïencerie de Sarreguemines (late 19th century or early 20th century)
    A deep, glossy burgundy background.
Golden floral and stylized motifs, notably depicting thistles (a symbol of Lorraine), characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement.
Shaped like a domed bowl with a flared opening and an oval pedestal or base.
Signature on the back: SARREGUEMINES: The half-circular stamped mark confirms its origin from the prestigious Lorraine earthenware manufactory.
551 & M: The engraved number 551 corresponds to the form or model number assigned by the manufactory for this flared oval planter. The letter M denotes the size or workshop series.
2089 / 10: This number, hand-painted in gold (or manganese), corresponds to the exact reference for the decoration applied to the piece (the gold-powder thistle motif on a burgundy background).
Period: Given the design of the “SARREGUEMINES” stamp in capital letters without the word “France” or “Digoin” next to it, as well as the style of the engraved numerals, this piece fits perfectly within the Art Nouveau period (around 1900–1910).  This was the era when the factory produced sumptuous glazed earthenware with metallic sheen and fine gold decorations, inspired by the local natural landscape (the flora of Lorraine).
Dimensions: Length: 33 cm; Width: 20 cm; Height: 13 cm
