In carved and then gilded wood, the finesse of our reliquary monstrance offers an aerial construction.
In its center, protected by its original glass, a quadrilobed niche accommodates substantial ex-ossibus relics of Saint Agatha, resting tenderly on a bed of flowers. This is the originality of this piece.
Saint Agatha of Catania was Martyred in Sicily in the year 251.

On the back are five episcopal seals of red wax, positioned like the five wounds of Christ on the altar stones. Our seals would bear the arms of the Archbishopric of Calabria with its three six-pointed stars, geographically not far from the place of martyrdom of our Saint.
