Our imposing monstrance is made entirely of silver-gilt and features a gilt metal lunette.
The four-legged base, in the Rococo style, is decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves. It is adorned with the Lamb of the Apocalypse and vine leaves. The angel Gabriel stands with his arms crossed on a globe encircled by the serpent seeking the apple.
The upper section is decorated with angels' heads in clouds surrounded by glory and classically surmounted by the Cross.
It bears the Minerva hallmark and the hallmarks of the Parisian silversmiths MARTIN and DEJEAN, active between 1837 and 1846. A piece that would be perfectly at home in a cathedral.
