Our pectoral cross is made of vermeil and features an openwork design of grapevine tendrils. The four main arms of this white cross are stylized in the shape of the ermine of Brittany, a direct indication of its origins.
It features a central medallion of polychrome enamel depicting the profile of Pope Pius IX, dated 1856. On the reverse is an image of Saint Corentin, patron saint of the Diocese of Quimper.
It comes with a blue satin cord and a leather pouch bearing a label attesting to its provenance from the former Major Seminary of Quimper, in the name of Canon F. Falc’hun.
Canon François Falc'hun (1909–1991) was one of the most influential intellectual and religious figures in 20th-century Brittany.
A collector’s item that blends spirituality, religious metalwork, and history.
