A great classic of 18th-century château furniture, this elegant lacquered wood Polonaise bed with its baluster uprights and pine-cone embellished crown canopy is a work of the Louis XVI period.
The woodwork, covered in an old pale-gray paint, blends perfectly with the "Indian" fabric, with its champagne background enhanced by large, warmly-colored flowers and foliage, which has been very fashionable since the 17th century. This cotton fabric, used on the 4 curtains, the valance and the outside of the bedside tables, dates from the 20th century, It's in very good condition, despite some fading, with no tears, and is accompanied by beautiful, high-quality trimmings in brighter colors that enhance the overall effect. The inside of the bedside tables, the top of the canopy and the bedspread are in velvet, very soft to the touch and a pale beige color close to sandstone.
The wooden slatted bed base is new, with a wool mattress in perfect condition, and rests on a removable wooden base, which is the original one.
The bed can be completely dismantled. The set has been overhauled and is ready for use.
