Beautiful enfilade sideboard in flamed Cuban mahogany veneered on oak, the keyholes adorned with a rich chased bronze and gilded mercury trim. Topped with turquoise-blue marble, it stands on ball feet with rounded uprights. It opens with 2 doors and 2 drawers, the left-hand drawer featuring compartments for silverware. Parisian production in the Empire and Restoration styles, early 19th century, circa 1820-1830.
The very high quality of this chest of drawers in its use of luxury materials, including the impeccable joints and the interior of the doors, the case entirely mounted on beautiful, evenly grained blond oak, the very fine chased and gilded bronze fittings and the luxury marble are unquestionably the signature of one of Paris's greatest cabinet-making workshops, alas unsigned.
A fine amateur model, for a commonly used piece of furniture, in very good home condition. The pad varnish has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker, with minor veneer chips on the inside of the doors. The gilding of the bronzes is superb, the marble is intact and the two original keys are still there.
