Superb Louis XV-style double sideboard, made of walnut around the middle of the XIXᵉ century (circa 1850). This antique piece of furniture is distinguished by the richness of its carved decorations, its elegant proportions and the quality of its cabinetwork.
The front opens with four panelled and carved leaves, adorned with branches of foliage in relief, as well as two drawers in the middle section offering additional storage space.
The elegantly curved top is crowned by a richly carved gendarme hat, decorated with a large central shell, an emblematic element of the Louis XV style. The jambs and sides of the piece also feature fine carved decoration, underlining the quality of the craftsmanship.
Between the two carcasses is a central shelf with a plate rack, a practical and decorative feature typical of regional sideboards of the period.
The whole piece rests on handsome cambered scrolled legs, housed beneath a carved, serrated crosspiece, giving the furniture all the elegance and lightness characteristic of the Louis XV style.
With its substantial height and refined decoration, this sideboard is an ideal centerpiece for a dining room or classical interior.
