Louis XIV period chest. Mid-17th century. Trapezoidal in shape, this chest is made of thick oak boards mounted with dovetails. It rests on four ball feet. It is surrounded by a wide molding on three sides. The lid is domed, it is made of four boards pegged at the end. Very beautiful set of openwork iron fittings with patterns of hearts, squares, diamonds, commas, etc. These very thick cut irons fulfill the dual decorative and structural function. The sides have two carrying handles. The lid closes with two hasps that can be locked with padlocks as well as a lock of impressive dimensions with its key (height of the lock: 16.5 cm / length of the key: 17.5 cm). The whole is functional. The interior has a small compartment on one side that closes with a hatch. Note that the bottom was redone in the 20th century.
