It is surrounded by a wide molding on three sides. The lid is domed, it is made of four boards pegged at the end. Very beautiful set of openwork iron fittings with patterns of hearts, squares, diamonds, commas, etc. These very thick cut irons fulfill the dual decorative and structural function.
