Jacob Desmalter et Cie is the association of the father Jacob and his son François-Honoré, who had added to his patronymic the name of "Desmalter". This association was formed after the death of George II Jacob. Since then, his works have been inscribed with another two-line inscription like the previous one.
The traditions of George Jacob were continued by his sons George and François-Honoré, who were united under the name of "Jacob Frères". On the death of the eldest of the Jacob brothers on 30 Vendemiaire, Year XII (23 October 1803), François-Honoré formed a new association with his father, under the name of "Jacob Desmalter et Cie" When he was appointed the Emperor's cabinet-maker, his factory had developed prodigiously. There were no less than fifteen workshops, seven of which were for carpentry, cabinetmaking and turning, three for carving, painting and gilding wood, three others for working with bronzes, one for upholstery and the last one for mechanical locksmithing. The father was always active and wise, watching over everything. Much was made, much was made "rich", but what had become of the exquisite lines of "Jacob" of the eighteenth century. Nevertheless, it was at this time that Jacob, working with the painter David, created the Empire style, imitating the antique and seeking in the art of imperial Rome its sumptuous, majestic and hard lines.
