Sumptuous Transitional Louis XV Louis XVI Commode à Ressaut, inlaid with Rosewood and Amaranth in Precious Wood fillets.

This Commode à Ressaut Central, with a pretty Gris St Anne marble top, opens with three drawers on the front. Its mounts have Cut Joints and Simulated Fluting. Beautiful ornamentation in Gilt and Chased Bronze such as Chutes, Entrées de Serrures and Anneaux de Tirge. Complete with key. Stamped on the right front jamb.

This Commode is stamped with the JME, Poinçon des Jurandes, and bears the stamp of the famous and renowned Master Cabinet Maker, Nicolas Alexandre LAPIE (1730 - 1775). Nicolas-Alexandre Lapie dit l'aîné (circa 1730 - February 8, 1775). Cabinetmaker. Paris. Mastered August 17, 1764. He practiced on rue de Charenton. He signed: N.-A. Lapie.Lapie Nicolas Alexandre, son of Nicolas Lapie, an earthenware merchant in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, was born around 1730; he registered his master's degree with the Châtelet in Paris in 1764; and less than eleven years later, on February 8, 1775, he died at his home in rue de Charenton. Lapie had signed his works with the mark N-A-LAPIE, an ink imprint of which can be seen on the minutes of the seals affixed to his home after his death. The same document mentions, among the pieces he left in progress, some twenty small tables known as chiffonières.
Over the course of his eleven-year career, he produced numerous tables chiffonières, as well as other Louis XV, Transition and Louis XVI furniture in the classical style, covered with sheet veneer or marquetry.
