    Art Nouveau Japanese-Style Display Cabinet in Mahogany and Mother-of-Pearl

    Late 19th Century – Circa 1890/1900

    Charming Japanese-style display cabinet made of mahogany and mahogany veneer, characteristic of the Art Nouveau style of the late 19th century.

    This piece features a very elegant asymmetrical design, inspired by the Far Eastern arts then in vogue.

    The upper section is adorned with an openwork pediment centered with a marquetry decoration depicting a bird in flight.

    To the left, a glass-fronted display cabinet with a glass shelf provides space for displaying trinkets or collectibles. To the right, open shelves are embellished with flowing cutouts and delicate pyrography floral designs.

    The door of the lower cabinet features a finely engraved Japanese-style decoration depicting bamboo, flowers, butterflies, and a stylized bridge, enhanced with mother-of-pearl inlays.

    The uprights, brackets, and crossbars are richly openwork and carved, emphasizing the overall lightness.

    The piece rests on four cabriole legs joined by a stretcher.

    A refined decorative piece, ideal for an Art Nouveau, eclectic, or Japonist interior.
