Curtain bedside table, Louis XVI, early 19th century
Elegant little flying piece of furniture that can be placed in a living room, whose usefulness at the start was at the bedside, equipped with wheels and finished on all sides, it could be transported to different rooms.
Made of solid mahogany, it rests on 4 tapered legs connected to each other by a shelf with an edge on 3 sides, the base is finished with clogs and small bronze casters, the box opens on the front with a slat curtain surmounted by a drawer, two rectangular reserves arranged vertically embellished with rows of brass beads adorn the front of the cabinet, copper strips on wood (added later) frame the sides and the front. The lens-shaped pull buttons used to manipulate the curtain and the drawer are in brass (they are both posterior).
This small piece of furniture is covered with a mahogany top made of a single board, molded on the front and edged on both sides and the back with a small strip forming an edge
