Very elegant washbasin composed of a carved and patinated wooden base simulating monopod griffins from the Consulate period, and a spectacular ewer accompanied by its basin from the beginning of the 19th century with superb chiseled details.
The outline of the basin is decorated with a frieze of water leaves, lined with a large frieze of vine leaves, bunches of grapes and fleurons. The ewer, embellished with a superb swan, frequently used for toilet "furniture", emphasizes the theme of water. A head of Bacchus, at the beginning of the handle, completes the theme of the vine.

This set, magnificently executed by Adolphe Boulenger, is directly inspired by the ewer with a swan and basin delivered by Martin Guillaume Bienais for the Tuileries Palace in 1802, now kept in the Louvre.

- punch old man 1st title of Paris.

- FAB hallmark used by the Boulenger goldsmith between 1810 and 1838.

The company was founded in Paris in 1810 by Mr. Boulenger-Hautin, active until 1938, specializing in tableware.

In 1864 it was taken over by the nephew of the founder, Adolphe Boulenger and became "A.Boulenger & Cie" located at 4 rue du Vert Bois in Paris.

His son, Charles Boulenger, took over on his father's death in 1898 and the company became "Ch. Boulenger & Cie".

Superb state of preservation.
