André Thuret (1898-1965), artist and scholar, was one of the great glass masters of the 20th century. From 1922-24, he began researching glass for the glass industry, while at the same time creating magnificent artistic pieces. From the 1930s to around 1960, he exhibited his work in numerous shows in France and abroad.
In 1898, Monsieur and Madame Rouzaud bought the Royat chocolate factory and renamed it "La Marquise de Sévigné", and in 1906, the company opened eleven stores in France, including two in Paris. Madame Rouzaud then asked various manufacturers and designers to create boxes to display the company's chocolates. This Thuret bowl is one of the most beautiful pieces used to display the "Marquise de Sévigné" chocolates.
