Son of French landscape painter and watercolorist François Louis Thomas FRANCIA
(1772-1839), he was, like his father, a renowned painter and watercolorist,
specializing in seascapes. He had an international career, exhibiting from 1835 at the Paris
Paris Salon, then in London, Vienna, Antwerp and Brussels.
He then settled in Belgium, where he was made a knight of the Order of Leopold for his artistic merits.
