This fine pencil drawing, created in 1905 by Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923), depicts a delicate female nude. The work is monogrammed "ST" in the lower right-hand corner and testifies to the mastery of this key Belle Époque artist, a major figure on the Paris art scene during the Art Nouveau period. Steinlen is best known for his emblematic posters for the Le Chat Noir cabaret in the Montmartre district of Paris, as well as for his scenes of popular life and his many portraits of women and cats. This drawing is part of a more intimate and sensitive body of work, in which the artist explores the female body with great restraint and natural elegance. The pencil, used with finesse, reveals a lively, almost spontaneous study, capturing the model's grace without artifice. This is an authentic work, ideal for lovers of graphic art or collectors of Symbolist and Post-Impressionist works.
