Two watercolor engravings depicting the elements of water and fire. In Paris, at Dannecun, rue St Avoye, no. 155. Note some stains and browning.
Under the engraving "Fire" is noted: "The Persians, Indians, and Greeks revered this element as a god whom the Romans named Vulcan."
Under the engraving "Water": "She is the queen of the elements, sometimes absorbing the Earth and extinguishing fire."
These two poetic explanations complement each other and form a very beautiful set of two fine antique engravings.
