A rare and magnificent rectangular tray from the famous OBERNAI service,
entitled "le dimanche matin" ("Sunday morning")
Signed LOUX and bearing the mark LOUX - UTZSCHNEIDER et CIE, so the original design dates from 1902 (with the first pieces leaving the faience factory in 1903)!
What makes this a rare object is the trademark, where the artist obtained the right to associate his name with that of the management of the Sarreguemines faience factory for the production of an entire service describing the habits and customs of Alsace, a real privilege in the context of a collaboration with an artist, for a service that has become very famous!
