The Cortendorf Manufaktur was founded in 1890 by Julius Griesbach in Coburg-Cortendorf. In addition to decorative ceramic items, they also had a large selection of figurative ceramics. The sculptor and model maker Albert Strunz has been introducing new design elements since 1954. The same goes for the well-known wall masks that he introduced since 1958. Since then, the repertoire of wall masks has continued to grow throughout the over the following years. In 1973, the factory was taken over by W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik, Rödental.
