Superb set of 2 Italian majolica cups from the 19th century from the Cantagalli factory in the 19th century.
Wonderful example of early Italian majolica pottery circa 1880. Decorated with blue, orange and yellow flowers with swirling green foliage.
Rooster or rooster signature on the back of the tray.

Ulysses Cantagalli produced highly decorative Italian ceramics in the Renaissance style. He devoted his artistic energy to understanding the techniques and designs of the old masters and the great ceramic centers. His ability to master the ruby and gold luster techniques of Mastro Giorgio Andreoli allowed the manufacture to become known, particularly in Great Britain. Cantagalli died in 1901 and the Cantagalli factory closed in 1985.
