    A beautiful, large cameo carved from a seashell, depicting a man in 16th-century attire, seen in profile.  It is mounted as a brooch, set in a Renaissance-style setting made of solid silver with marcasite inlays. On the back is a silversmith’s hallmark that we have not been able to identify. Made in France in the late 19th century.

    Beautifully crafted, very finely carved, in excellent condition.
