In five strands of 14k yellow gold, the corbeille in a double scalloped corolla, surmounted by an old oval-cut golden yellow diamond weighing approx. 0.40 ct. The edges of the petals of the lower corona were adorned with a black enamel border, of which a few traces remain.
    19th century.

    Diamond dimensions: approx. 6.1 x 5.1 x 2.2 mm.
    Cut: 49 (can be modified).
    Weight: 4.7 g (14k - 585/1000 - shell hallmark).

    Condition:
Very good overall condition. The diamond shows minor chips and inclusions (SI2 clarity). Its color is a deep golden yellow with amber nuances.

    History:
The petals were once edged with a deep black enamel, of which only faint traces remain today. These remnants allow us to imagine the original sumptuous adornment.
This combination of yellow gold and black enamel is characteristic of jewelry from the second half of the 19th century, often referred to as "Napoleon III" in France or "Victorian" in England. It is remarkable to discover a piece of jewelry from this period adorned with a yellow diamond. At the time, these stones were considered curiosities and were rarely mounted in jewelry. Their discovery was often fortuitous, and their value was much lower than that of white diamonds. Towards the end of the 19th century, however, their singular beauty began to seduce connoisseurs, and they gradually gained in popularity with collectors and jewellers alike.
