Beautiful pair of large ormolu torches of the Louis XVI period, attributed to Claude Galle.
The circular base molded knurled with pearls, chiseled edge of leaves, center in high cavet and pedestal with a base of leaves.
The conical fluted shaft is surmounted by a vase with a chased leaf body.

The national furniture preserves one example, bearing the inventory number GML-7103-000.
Flambeau, inventoried present at the Tuileries in 1809 in the bedroom of the empress's wardrobe. Entered the Garde-meuble in February 1810, it is deposited in Versailles in the cabinet or the room of the controller's apartment then inventoried in 1817 in the dining room of the intendant of the Garde-meuble de la Couronne. Returned to the Garde-meuble in October 1834, it went to the king's salon de repos in Versailles in November 1834 and then to Madame de Maintenon's cabinet in 1840. In 1855, it was placed in the salon of the apartment of the honorary curator of the museum. In November 1869, it is deposited at the Elysée for the living room of the military commander.

Rare model with its magnificent gilding of origin only cleaned.
