A rare pair of late 18th-century candlesticks, from the Directoire or Consulate period, in gilt and chased bronze.

The circular base is chased with a continuous frieze of laurel leaves around the rim. The semi-spherical, gadrooned counter-base is surmounted by a ring chased with heart-shaped motifs.
The fluted quiver-shaped stem has a wide, guilloché ring of crosshatching at its top.
The spherical socket is decorated with an interlaced frieze and features a cup chased with laurel leaves, echoing the motif of the base.

In good condition, with its original gilding. Some wear consistent with age.

Late 18th century: Directoire or Consulate period.

    Dimensions:
    Height 26.5 cm
    Base diameter 13.5 cm
