Fortune, goddess of luck, and Mercury, god of commerce in Roman mythology.
The bronzes are presented on a cylindrical base in the form of a fluted column.

This pair combines the famous model of Mercury made by John of Bologna for the Medici family in Florence in 1564
and the model of Fortune, created by Louis-Guillaume Fulconis.
After training at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Avignon, the latter participated in the Paris Salon from 1857 to 1872.
