    French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier de Belleuse, also known as Carrier-Belleuse, was one of the most prolific artists of the century, enjoying great success under the Second Empire and the personal support of Napoleon III.
    His work was greatly influenced by Italian Renaissance and 18th-century styles, which he helped to bring up to date.

    Émile Colin, a famous foundryman established at 29 rue de Sévigné in Paris since 1843, has been working with the greatest masters of French sculpture since 1855, including A.E. Carrier-Belleuse, J. Pradier and J.B. Carpeaux from 1875, and the Parisian goldsmith Christofle. He marks his bronzes with the words "E. Colin & Cie" from 1882 to 1898.
