Light Cavalry, Hussar or Chasseur à Cheval officer's saber.

Its overall appearance is characteristic of the Revolution/Consulate period.

Hungarian-style hilt: simple hilt branch joining the cruiser at right angles to the grooved face, quillon curved downwards, long-tailed cap in the shape of a leonine muzzle, long shuttle-shaped auricles.

On the hilt side, the auricle and quillon are stamped L.G.

Blackened leather handle. Watermark formed by a chain between two twists of brass wire.

Curved Solingen blade, one-third blued and decorated with floral motifs.

On the counterguard side, the blade and cruise are marked with three needle-struck dots, probably marks of the assembler.

No scabbard.

This saber is in good used condition, with no notable pitting, and remnants of blue and gilding in the hollows.
