Beautiful mahogany and mahogany veneer psyche decorated with caryatids, embellished with its original mercury mirror.
Fine, rich ornamentation of gilded chased bronzes for the sheathed caryatids featuring foliage, palmettes, anthemion and sandal feet.
The pediment, framed on either side by a Greek vase, features a tympanum decorated with a tazza in the center of two scrolled horns of plenty.
The cornice is decorated with a central rosette set with anthemion scrolls and two stars.
The tilting mirror is framed by an outer frieze of lotus flowers and an inner frieze of anthemions and a fine string of pearls.

This beautiful ensemble rests on generous front and back leonine legs in blackened wood, carved with a large acanthus leaf crossed by a gilded laurel branch.

Consulate period, late 18th/early 19th century.

Work attributed to Jacob Frères (1796-1803): a partnership between François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter and his brother Georges II Jacob, until the latter's death in 1803.

Very fine condition.
