He studied under Souverbie at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1945 to 1950, then under Friesz at the École de la Grande Chaumière. From 1948 to 1960, he held a teaching position with the City of Paris. His encounter with Villon was pivotal in his artistic development.
